Microsoft to Open a DC in the Hawkeye State?
February 12, 2008The Des Moines Register in Iowa is reporting that Microsoft is looking to build a data center in the Hawk-Eye state. This follows up on the annoucement from Google earlier this year for a facility in the Council Bluffs area just outside of Omaha, Nebraska. While the location doesnt seem to be known, its interesting to note that the numbers quoted seem to be bigger than the traditional Microsoft announcements in the Data Center space.
Shomshor said he suspects Microsoft’s investment will be about $750 million. “And I would guess 60 to 70 jobs,” he said. “But I haven’t spoken with anyone at Microsoft.”
