Apparently HP has eliminated Coal dependency – HP To Cut Carbon Emissions by 75%?

Sometimes I really struggle why certain things make the news.   CNN Money is reporting that HP Labs, the research division of HP is claiming a potential reduction of carbon emissions through its ongoing research.  As I understand carbon footprint and I am not by any stretch of the imagination an expert, that the carbon footprint of a data center is more tied to where you actually are located.   The only other way would be to drive for better overall efficiency.   Is HP claiming that they can drive an additional 75% of efficiency in data centers?   That would be a trick.  There is of course absolutely no data or back up to the claims.
