Council Bluffs continues subsidies for Google
July 5, 2008A reader sent me a link to the local paper in Omaha Nebraska, which highlights some interesting data center news. Apparently, Google cannot provide for its own utility corridors in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After purchasing over 1000 acres of land, Google is requiring the local city to purchase 2.5 acres of land to accomodate utilities to their site. You would think with the kind of capital that Google has and 1000 acres, Google would be able to give the city some of its land to accomodate for this provision. Instead the city is going to have to foot the $75,000 bill.
