Is Dupont Fabros Tightening its belt and focusing more in healthy markets?

October 23, 2008

An anonymous tipster has sent me word that all work on the Dupont Fabros site in Santa Clara has ceased with no word on its continuation.   The email mentioned that Dupont may be focusing on other markets and build-outs given the severe slackening of growth in Silicon Valley.  As reported by Data Center Knowledge, The Santa Clara facility  was to total around 600,000 square feet of space with 342,000 square feet of raised floor.   At a power density of 72.8MW, the facility would have been one of Silicon Valley’s largest.

  1. I drove by it this morning. All the construction equipment and gears are completely gone. MS announced the slow-down of their investments on data centers. Data centers are not immune to the market downturn.

  2. I drove by it again this morning. I saw several people working in a couple of holes with pipes. There were two pieces of construction equipment operated.
